Pegaso VRS Network

Powered by Trimble. Certified by IGM.

What is Pegaso?

  • Features advanced real-time Ionospheric correction modelling to significantly reduce errors at the rover due to atmospheric activity
  • Tracks all modern GNSS signals to deliver a robust service and reliable performance

Providing confidence in your position!

Pegaso VRS Now is a Virtual Reference Station (VRS) network, certified by the Italian Istituto Geografico Militare, which provides instant access to network Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GNSS corrections across all of Italy:

  • The modern network employs over 190 permanent (fixed) reference stations across Italy, including Sicilia and Sardegna

Features & Benefits

The Pegaso network employs VRS technology, a proven, cost-effective choice for any GNSS survey application. VRS technology was first pioneered by Trimble over two decades ago.

  • RTK-level precision - Precise and repeatable, centimeter-level accuracy helps you stay confident in your position; the first time and every time
  • Fast initialization - With instant access to network RTK corrections and no base station set up, you can start working within seconds
  • Using the newest constellations (GPS Gen III, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BeiDou-III) - Work more reliably in challenging environments, decrease re-work and increase productivity in the field, even if conditions on the ground necessitate increasing elevation masks to avoid diffusing objects and multipath
  • Easy to use, improves the efficiency of deployment Just connect, correct and measure. With all receivers used as rovers, multiple crews can be deployed at one time and work simultaneously
  • Customer support - 24/7 network monitoring and maintenance with around-the-clock customer support to stay productive
  • Cost-effective - A reasonable annual subscription provides you with year-round access to reliable, high-accuracy corrections within the network. Eliminate base station or maintenance costs
  • Redundancy benefits - The added redundancy of the multiple reference stations, and the time savings of not setting up your own base station is a huge benefit
  • Coordinate Reference Frame - ETRF2000 Roma40 (Height Transformation)

How Does VRS Technology Work?

Fixed reference stations within the Pegaso VRS network receive data from GNSS satellites and upload them to the VRS server. Every GNSS rover connects to the Pegaso server and reports its location. A “virtual” reference station is generated for that individual receiver. The VRS server calculates and applies custom corrections, reducing atmospheric disturbance on the satellite data. Following data and integrity checks, the “virtual” reference station sends a verified set of corrections data to the receiver via cellular modem.

To operate using the Pegaso VRS network, an end user needs a current service subscription, a reliable cell connection (GSM, GPRS or UMTS where available), and a dual-frequency GPS receiver compatible with the industry standard RTCM corrections.
